From the fields of Glastonbury 2025 via The Green Place in Sileby, a grand wooden-crafted bug hotel has found its way to Hall Orchard’s fields.
Darren, from The Green Place, explained that they were invited to Glastonbury Festival to run some workshops. This included crafting a giant bug hotel in the style of a totem pole to be donated to a school in Leicestershire. They were inundated with requests, but the first school out of the hat was Hall Orchard.
The bug hotel now takes pride of place on the school field alongside their wildfower planting area… so hotel and restaurants for our important pollinating insects. The pupils are extremely excited to see which insects are attracted first.
The Green Place is a mini eco centre and has been running in Sileby for over 20 years. It’s open for environmental and community events, including outdoor cinema, live music, creative craft workshops, educational groups and venue hire.
