One year ago, the Parish Council set up a trial Youth Club with the Blaze City Project, what a success it has been!
We are delighted with the engagement that Blaze has with our young people and can confirm funding has been secured for another year. Over the past year the club has engaged with approximately 1500 youngsters and on average attracts 30 attendees a week. In the summer, the club meets at the KGV playing fields on Wednesdays, 5:30 - 7pm, moving to Freckles café in the winter months. The space at the park allows the club to engage with sports, games, giant versions of much-loved games such as Jenga. Refreshments are always available for free as well as the occasional pizza or visit from the ice cream van! The cosy indoor space of Freckles creates a different atmosphere and has allowed for elaborate Christmas programmes to be planned and performed and play host to multiple concerts where we can show off the young people’s talents. If you are interested in attending, please contact the parish council office.
The Parish Council has secured just over £21,000 of Government UKSPF (UK Shared Prosperity Funding).
The funding will be used to improve the Christmas lights display on the High Street as well as supporting the Summer Street Market and Christmas Lights switch-on event. The new bunting was also purchased using the funding.
We are also grateful to Stewart Pawley for designing two postcards which have been distributed to High Street shops for free to promote our wonderful village.
