We started the Jubilee ball rolling with our red, white and blue cover in the spring edition. Now we bring you the main event with all the action from the ‘wet but wonderful’ Diamond Jubilee weekend in Barrow. Read all about it on page 15.

We also bring you up to date with news about potential housing development in the village and thank BRAG for their comprehensive report and, along with the Parish Council, for the ongoing commitment to fight to preserve the quality of life in Barrow.

This issue is a lively mix of news and views, people and places and what is going on in the village over the summer. Barrowlympix is coming very soon - Sunday July 8 - there is lots of information about what is happening where and it promises to be a great day for both competitors and spectators.

Barrow Voice would like to thank the Parish Council for funding the Olympic celebration and the Jubilee picnic. At the time of writing, far from being flaming June weather, it has remained damp and chilly. But soon exams will be over, school will be out and the holiday season will be upon us. Whether you are goi1g away or having a well-earned rest at home, have a great time.

The much - awaited Signpost project is nearing completion. The newly - refurbished website www.barrowsignpost.info is now live and is available for residents to register in order to and and edit content. We will be working over the summer to get it just right and in the autumn, we will hold a launch to demonstrate how it can be used. This will be especially helpful to community groups and businesses. Read all about the launch in the September edition of Barrow Voice.
