Barrow Hosts a second Dragon Boat Festival
The local charity, Loughborough Women’s Aid, is
running its 2nd annual fundraising event
‘Loughborough Women’s Aid’ Dragon Boat Festival’.

This festival will take place on the River Soar on Saturday 22nd
May 2010, with fast and furious racing starting once again at The
Boat House in Barrow.
The festival was absolutely fantastic last year with hundreds of
people attending, and this year we are hoping for double the
numbers. We also have support from traders in Barrow as the
village was very busy, thus producing extra trade for them.
The ancient festival promises a really exciting day for
competitors and spectators alike, with boat races throughout
the day, racing for that winning trophy and medal, won last year
by Acme Road Runners.
There is also a prize for the crew that raises the most
sponsorship and a prize for the best dressed crew.
Crews Wanted!
To form a boat crew and enter the challenge, or for further information please contact Michele: 01509 550317 or email
michele@lwa.org.uk The event is being held to raise money for Loughborough Womens Aid, a charity that has been providing
services and support for over 30 years for people and their children throughout Charnwood and North West Leicestershire who
are experiencing domestic abuse.
