Editorial
Barrow Voice welcomes the new decade with a special colour edition. We have some great photos on
selected pages and hope you enjoy them. All our photos are reproduced in colour on the Barrow Voice
website and there is often a wider selection of pictures so do log on and have a look. You’ll also find
extended articles and additional articles which we just didn’t have room for. On this month’s web edition you will
be able to catch up with Ginnie Willcocks on her allotment and read about Dave Bird’s love of flying.
Inside these pages we continue to keep you informed on the proposed Melton Road housing development and there is
news of improved services at the Health Centre, some as a result of good ideas from patients. We thank Tony Childs for
letting us adapt his funeral eulogy to provide a fitting tribute to John Wilford, a good friend of Barrow Voice, indeed of allthings-
Barrow. We congratulate Barrow Playgroup on its OFSTED success and bring our 100 years of Guiding feature bang up
to date with stories and pictures of what all these groups are doing in the 21st century.
I was once asked how much I get paid for editing Barrow Voice. If only! The truth is revealed in ‘Twenty things you may
not know about BV’.
Finally, a big thank you to our advertisers for the prompt payment for their ads. Their support has enabled us to bring you
this colourful edition to help banish the grey days of winter.
